Available now from the company’s website, a new 2-in-1 SuperVOOC cable supports charging both your OnePlus smartphone and OnePlus Watch at full speed using a single cable.
The new “OnePlus 2-in-1 SuperVOOC Cable” is just what the name implies, a charging cable that serves two purposes. The cable, of course, charges your OnePlus smartphone, but also has a built-in magnetic charger for a OnePlus Watch. Specifically, it’s compatible with OnePlus Watch 2, Watch 2R, Watch 3, and Watch 3 (43mm).
To use the 1.2m (3.9ft) cable, you’ll need your existing charging brick. Of note, though, is that you won’t get full charging speeds for the phone. Your watch will get 10W speeds, but the phone can also charge at 67W while a watch is also plugged in. That’s still plenty fast, but it’s worth knowing there is a small compromise.
It’s also still a USB-A to USB-C connection.
As for where there might be useful, the obvious answer is in travel. Having a watch charger built into your phone charging cable means you only have to carry one thing, and the short cable should also prove perfect for a hotel nightstand. That said, as our Will Sattelberg pointed out on seeing the cable, it might prove a lot less useful at home where most outlets are going to be towards the floor or might be in an area that doesn’t need excess cable sitting around.
In either case, OnePlus is now selling its 2-in-1 cable for $29.99 – the same price as a spare OnePlus Watch charger. Would you buy one?
