STUDIO CITY, LOS ANGELES (KABC) — Rapper Lil Nas X was seen walking nearly nude on a street in a video recorded by a passing driver before the rapper was arrested in Studio City and hospitalized for a possible overdose.
The footage, which appears to show him wearing only underwear and boots, was provided to the entertainment website TMZ.
Officers responded shortly before 6 a.m. Thursday to a report of a naked man walking in the street on the 11000 block of Ventura Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. The location is just west of the 101 Freeway, near Vineland Avenue.
When officers arrived at the scene, the man charged toward them, an LAPD spokesperson said. The suspect was taken into custody and transported to a hospital.
Lil Nas X, whose legal name is Montero Lamar Hill, was booked on suspicion of misdemeanor obstructing an officer and was being held in jail.
After charging at arriving police, he was taken into custody, but the officers, suspecting a drug overdose, took him to a hospital first, an LAPD spokesperson said. There was no further word on his condition, but he was released from the hospital and taken to jail after just a few hours.
Eyewitness News reached out to his representatives, but did not hear back.
The 26-year-old rapper and singer from Atlanta is best known for his huge hit from 2018, “Old Town Road,” which merged country and hip-hop. It spent a record 19 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Known for his genre-bending, innovating sounds and style, his first full studio album, 2021’s “Montero,” went to No. 2 on the Billboard album chart and was nominated for a Grammy for album of the year.
