‘Office’ Spinoff on Peacock in September

The Paper,” a loose spinoff of the beloved sitcom “The Office,” is now switching to a binge model and will release all 10 episodes on Sept. 4 on Peacock.

The series was initially set to debut four episodes on that date, followed by weekly drops.

In “The Paper,” a passionate journalist named Ned Sampson (Domhnall Gleeson) joins an Ohio newspaper as its new editor-in-chief. Faced with a crumbling local media industry, Ned must rally a group of ragtag employees and defy the odds to revitalize the Toledo Truth Teller.

Starring opposite Gleeson are Sabrina Impacciatore, Chelsea Frei, Melvin Gregg, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Alex Edelman, Ramona Young, Tim Key and original “Office” cast member Oscar Nuñez , reprising the role of accountant Oscar Martinez.

The throughline between “The Paper” and “The Office” is not only Oscar but also the unseen camera crew capturing all the workplace antics. Years after documenting the happenings at Dunder Mifflin Paper Company in Scranton, Penn., the crew has found a new paper-related subject in Toledo, Ohio.

The first season of “The Paper” will also feature a handful of guest stars including Eric Rahill, Tracy Letts, Molly Ephraim, Mo Welch, Allan Havey, Duane Shepard Sr., Nate Jackson and Nancy Lenehan.

“The Paper” is co-created by Greg Daniels (who developed the American “Office”) and Michael Koman, who co-created “Nathan for You.” Original British “Office” creators Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant executive produce alongside Howard Klein, Ben Silverman and Banijay Americas. The studio is Universal Television.

The directors for Season 1 include Daniels (101), Ken Kwapis (102), Yana Gorskaya (103), Paul Lieberstein (104), Tazbah Chavez (105), Jason Woliner (106), Jennifer Celotta (107), Matt Sohn (108), Dave Rogers (109) and Jeff Blitz (110).
