Patrick Somerville has signed a two-year television overall deal with Amazon MGM Studios, Variety has learned exclusively.
Somerville and his longtime collaborator, producer Stephanie Jacob-Goldman, will develop TV projects for the studio under their chaoticgood.tv banner. News of the deal comes roughly one month after it was reported that Somerville is developing a TV series adaptation of the “Wolfenstein” video games for Prime Video.
“Collaborating with Patrick Somerville is a wonderful opportunity to help us create new and dynamic series for our global Prime Video customers,” said Vernon Sanders, global head of TV for Amazon MGM Studios. “With his impressive resume, which includes some of the most impactful stories on television in recent years, Patrick is an excellent addition to the Amazon MGM Studios family.”
As previously announced, Somerville will serve as creator, writer, executive producer, and showrunner on the “Wolfenstein” series. Jonah Nolan, Lisa Joy, and Athena Wickham will executive produce via Kilter Films. James Altman of Keyframe Films and Jerk Gustafsson of “Wolfenstein” developer MachineGames will also executive produce.
“I’m grateful for the chance to join Amazon, and Vernon, at such an exciting time in our business,” Somerville added. “Partnering with Jonah and Lisa on this project makes the opportunity even more special. I look forward to honoring the beautiful madness of ‘Wolfenstein.’”
Somerville is best known in the TV space for creating the shows “Maniac” at Netflix and “Station Eleven” at HBO Max, serving as executive producer on both and showrunner on “Station Eleven.” He was also a writer and supervising producer on the critically-acclaimed HBO series “The Leftovers.” His other writing credits include “The Bridge” and “24: Live Another Day.” Somerville is also a novelist, having published the books “The Cradle” and “The Bright River” along with the short story collections “The Universe in Miniature in Miniature” and “Trouble.”
He is repped by WME and Artists First.
Jacob-Goldman served as a producer on the Peabody Award-nominated series “Station Eleven,” and worked on such series as “Designated Survivor,” “Grand Army” and “The 100.”
