Originally released for PC last year, Delta Force comes to PS5 later today. The series has seen releases on PS1 and PS2, with the last being 2004’s Delta Force: Black Hawk Down and its expansion Team Sabre.
Delta Force will release on PS5 tonight
Delta Force is a free-to-play first-person shooter coming to PS5 that technically releases tomorrow, August 19. However, the timer that is currently on the PS Store indicates that players will be able to play the game a bit sooner. Specifically, it will be downloadable beginning at 10 p.m. ET. Beyond the multiplayer modes, the game features a campaign based on the 2001 film Black Hawk Down.
Although it’s free-to-play, players can “preorder” Delta Force for $9.99. Preordering the game will get players the following content for the game:
- Delta Coin x750
- M249 – Immortal x1
- Vityaz – Aerospace x1
- CAR-15 – Atlantis x1
- Premium Weapon EXP Token x2
- Intermediate Weapon EXP Token x5
“Delta Force is back,” reads the game’s description. “The iconic series returns as the definitive free-to-play modern team-based tactical shooter and featuring three distinct gameplay modes: large-scale PvP warfare, intense extraction shooter action, and a remake of the legendary Black Hawk Down campaign.”
When Delta Force was originally released for the PC in late 2024, it was met with mixed reviews. According to the review aggregate site Metacritic, it garnered an average score of 61 across 5 critic reviews. Players on Steam seem to echo that notion, as its reviews are “mixed” out of the 132,592 players that reviewed the game on the digital marketplace.
Although the reviews are middling, it is currently one of the most played games on Steam. According to SteamDB, there are currently over 116,000 players playing the game. This makes it the fifth most-played game on the platform as of this writing.
