BOZEMAN, Mont. — On Aug. 18, two new measles cases were reported in western Montana.
The Gallatin County Health Department reported a new exposure site that occurred on Aug. 12 at Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport on Southwest flight 2740. The time of exposure was from 6:37 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. According to the airport’s website, Southwest flight 2740 was inbound to Bozeman from Denver, CO.
Those exposed are advised to monitor for symptoms until Sept. 2.
Meanwhile in Lewis and Clark County, the first measles case in decades was reported in a resident. Lewis and Clark Public Health officials stated that there is currently little threat to the public, as there is no evidence of transmission in the community and no public exposure sites.
According to experts, symptoms of measles to watch for include:
- Cough
- Fever
- White spots in mouth
- Runny nose
- Red, watery eyes.
Officials also stated that symptoms may take between 7-14 days from the date of exposure to appear.
