‘General Hospital’ Is Welcoming Back Ryan Paevey

EXCLUSIVE: General Hospital has another major plot twist to drop on its fans: the ABC sudser is bringing back Ryan Paevey.

It’s unclear, for now, what role he will play since his previous character, the popular Det. Nathan West, was killed off in 2018. Paevey originated the part of Nathan in 2013.

Paevey tells Deadline that his return to GH started with a surprise text from Executive Producer Frank Valentini. He begins filming this week and will show up on the sudser in September.

“We talked a bit and he asked would I consider returning for awhile, talking story, floated different story ideas involving different time commitments of me, and I thought if we’re going to do this we should really do it and surprise the fans with a meaty storyline,” Paevey tells Deadline. “I was surprised by my excitement for a homecoming and reuniting with familiar faces after seven years. I still have my last call sheet from my final taping day on January 18, 2018, tacked up in my home office.”

Fans have already been speculating about Paevey’s possible return since Deadline broke in June that Kelly Thiebaud, who played Nathan’s sister Britt, was coming back to the soap. She debuted in July.

After rising to prominence as a fan favorite on GH, Paevey became a fixture on the Hallmark Channel. After headling Unleashing Mr. Darcy in 2016, Paevey starred in more than a dozen Hallmark originals, including Two Tickets to Paradise in 2022. Most recently, he appeared in Fourth Down and Love.

Paevey’s other credits include guest roles on Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Games People Play. Off-camera, the actor is a jewelry designer through his Fortunate Wanderer brand.

Paevey is repped by Justice & Ponder and Eric Suddleson of Felker Toczek Suddleson McGinnis Ryan.
