TREMONTON, Utah (KUTV) — Two officers were killed and one deputy was injured while responding to a domestic violence incident.
At approximately 9 p.m. on Sunday, the Box Elder Communication Center received several 911 hangup calls from an address near 700 North and 200 East.
An officer from the Tremonton-Garland Police Department responded and spoke with someone at the home, who was reporting a domestic disturbance.
At this time, a man came out of the residence with a gun. He opened fire, striking and killing the officer.
A second officer arrived at the scene and was immediately fired upon by the same man. He was also killed.

A deputy from the Box Elder County Sheriff’s Office then arrived. The man fired several rounds into his vehicle, striking both the deputy and his service dog.
They were evacuated to a local area hospital and a specialty veterinary clinic.
The deputy has since been released and is recovering in “fair” condition. The service dog will remain at the veterinary clinic as a precaution.
Bystanders eventually convinced the man to put down his weapon.
He was taken into custody and booked into the Box Elder County Jail on aggravated murder charges.
SWAT teams responded to clear the home and ensure there was no continued threat.
“It rocks an entire community,” Chief Chad Reyes, of the Brigham City Police Department, said. “It rocks an entire nation.”
The suspect’s identity will not be released as investigations continue.
