Lucy from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is set to join the Guilty Gear Strive roster as the final Season 4 character on August 21, 2025. In preparation for this date, Arc System Works has released Lucy’s Starter Guide video that explains in detail how to play the character before she gets released.
At the start of the video, it’s said that Lucy has access to a particularly strong neutral thanks to her far-reaching attacks and high mobility. She also has the unique ability to afflict the opponent with debuffs that are based on abilities from Cyberpunk 2077.
Lucy’s “Monowire” is a unique weapon for Lucy that effectively makes her the “whip” character in Guilty Gear Strive that we typically see in various fighting games. Some of her attacks will inflict heavy pushback on block, while other attacks will actually pull opponents closer to her.
The ability to reel opponents in like this is especially useful as Lucy has a built-in cross up attack that will cause her to switch sides with the opponent if they’re close enough. Combined with a powerful low option, Lucy has numerous ways to keep opponents guessing when they’re forced into defensive situations.
By spending resources, Lucy can place debuffs that negatively impact the opponent’s performance during gameplay. Through this mechanic, she can cause enemies to take damage over time, restore her own health with successful hits, always score counter hits with openings, gain more R.I.S.C. meter when Lucy’s attacks get blocked, cause opponents to generate less Tension Gauge and even obscure herself (making her mix ups more difficult for opponents to perceive).
She even has a unique mechanic where she will transition into a more powerful version of her Overdrive if the extra damage is enough to KO her opponent. This will spend more meter automatically, but this is generally worth doing in most cases to end a round or especially a match in most cases.
