Defense Generates Consistent Pressure
The 49ers front seven created problems for Raiders quarterbacks throughout the evening. Rookie linebacker Nick Martin logged a third-down sack in the second quarter to force a punt, defensive lineman Trevis Gipson added an eight-yard sack later in the half, and Demone Harris brought down Raiders quarterback Cam Miller in the fourth quarter. Cornerbacks Darrell Luter Jr. and Chase Lucas each delivered strong coverage on deep attempts, with Lucas notching a second-half interception to go along with another sack.
Takeaways Turn into Points
The 49ers defense set up the offense with short fields twice in the second half. Early in the third quarter, Lucas picked off Raiders quarterback Aidan O’Connell and Mac Jones and the offense capitalized. Jones & co. moved the ball into scoring position for Moody’s 26-yard field goal. With just seconds left in the fourth quarter, safety Jaylen Mahoney came up with a timely interception to halt a Raiders drive, setting up the game-winning opportunity.
Moody Ices the Game
Moody scored from 30, 26, 50, 44, and 59 yards on the day. His longest kick came in the final moments, when he drilled a 59-yarder straight through the uprights to seal the 22-19 win.
