Prince William & Kate Middleton’s ‘Fresh Start’ Home Comes With a Refreshing Financial Detail

It is officially confirmed; Prince William and Kate Middleton are on the move.

The royal couple will be leaving their cozy Adelaide Cottage to move to their “forever home” at Forest Lodge, according to The Sun. A Kensington Palace spokesperson also confirmed their relocation to People, “The Wales family will move house later this year.”

The move, per a source for The Sun, noted that it is a “fresh start” for Kate, William, and their three children: Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7, after the death of Queen Elizabeth, and Kate and King Charles’ cancer.

There also appears to be a Prince Harry and Meghan Markle lesson to their relocation, too — the royal pair is going to pay for their movie and monthly rent out of their personal bank accounts. They want to avoid the firestorm of headlines after taxpayers were charged for the Frogmore Cottage renovations the Sussexes completed after their wedding. As a reminder, the couple paid back the funds with the money they earned from their $100 million Netflix deal in 2020.

Kate and William are already making plans for their new home, and renovations have already begun. A palace insider also confirmed how happy the couple is to plant roots at Forest Lodge.

“Windsor has become their home,” a source told The Sun. “However, over the last few years, while they have lived at Adelaide Cottage, there have been some really difficult times. Moving gives them an opportunity for a fresh start and a new chapter; an opportunity to leave some of the more unhappy memories behind. This is a move for the long-term. They see it as their forever home.”

In July, The Mail on Sunday reported that the Prince and Princess of Wales were eyeing Fort Belvedere to move to. It’s a “gothic-revival mansion nestled in a hidden corner of Windsor Great Park” that was once home to Edward VIII, who abdicated the throne to marry his love, Wallis Simpson. Instead, they chose Forest Lodge, which is a mile down the road from their current residence at Adelaide Cottage.

The move comes as the royal couple begins planning their future on the throne as the King and Queen of England. They are adamant about protecting the privacy of their children while taking on a global role at the palace — it’s a tricky road to navigate.
