Ulta Beauty, the largest cosmetics retailer in the U.S. announced Thursday it is ending its partnership with Target. An announcement from the company says the brands mutually agreed to end the Ulta Beauty at Target shop-in-shop partnership that launched in 2021.
The partnership led to Ulta operating standalone stores inside of Target locations throughout the U.S. and offering products for sale on Target’s website. While a specific date wasn’t announced for when the Ulta locations will close, Ulta says the agreement concludes in August 2026.
Consumers will continue to earn Ulta Beauty Rewards on eligible Ulta Beauty at Target purchases until the end of the partnership.
“For 35 years, Ulta Beauty has revolutionized how people experience beauty – bringing together an unmatched assortment from mass to luxury – and our partnership with Target was one of many unique ways we have brought the power of beauty to guests nationwide,” said Amiee Bayer-Thomas, chief retail officer, Ulta Beauty.
There are approximately 600 Ulta Beauty shops inside Target locations. The shops offer select cosmetic and beauty products that are also available in Ulta locations. The companies say they are “committed to delivering a seamless shopping experience and product availability through the end of the partnership.”
