This is the fourth straight time the Mariners have had a weather delay on a road trip that features games in the Central and Eastern time zones. They experienced a 35-minute weather delay during the fifth inning of their July 8 game against the Yankees in the Bronx. They also had a 4 hour, 20 minute delay before a June 26 game against the Minnesota Twins, and a 90-minute delay on May 20 at the Chicago White Sox.
Rain could also impact Seattle’s 1:05 p.m. local time (10:05 a.m. PT) series finale with Baltimore on Thursday, too.
The chances of rain decrease throughout the early hours of Thursday morning, but thunderstorms and a 50% chance of rain are once again in the forecast near Thursday’s scheduled first pitch.
If weather ends of delaying Thursday’s series finale, the forecast calls for conditions to clear up in the late afternoon to early evening, leaving a potential window later in the day to get the game in.
Potential makeup dates
The Mariners and Orioles have two mutual dates off for the remainder of the season: Sept. 4 and 22.
If a makeup date is needed, Sept. 4 appears to be the best candidate. The Mariners will have just wrapped up a series at the Tampa Bay Rays the previous day with a three-game series in Atlanta starting Sept. 5. The Orioles play in San Diego on Sept. 3 and begin a home series Sept. 5.
Baltimore is off during a home stand on Sept. 22, but the Mariners’ off day comes in between a Sept. 21 game in Houston and a Sept. 23 home game.
This story will be update with more information as it become available.
