First on LateNighter: Stephen Colbert’s Late Show continued to post near-record numbers in his second full week of shows since CBS announced the show’s cancellation.
According to Nielsen Live+3 data, Colbert averaged a 12.51% weekly share among total viewers for the week of July 28—just twelve one-hundredths of a percent lower than the previous week, which set the all-time record for highest weekly share The Late Show with Stephen Colbert has posted since its 2015 debut.
It was also Colbert’s second-best raw ratings week in more than two years (again trailing only the week prior), drawing an average of 3.016 million total viewers each night—more than his two 11:35 p.m. network competitors combined.
The Late Show was even stronger in the advertiser-coveted 18–49 demographic, where Colbert’s weekly average topped the previous week and delivered the largest 18–49 audience of any show in late night.
The week’s most-watched episode aired Thursday, when over 3.2 million viewers tuned in for Colbert’s interview with Kamala Harris—her first televised sit-down since the 2024 election.
In other weekly ratings news, Greg Gutfeld’s Fox News show maintained its dominance in the 10 p.m. ET time slot, averaging 3.16 million total viewers and 238,000 in the key 18–49 demo nightly, while Late Night with Seth Meyers handily won the 12:37 a.m. hour, posting an impressive 35% demo gain week-over-week.
Meanwhile, The Daily Show settled back to typical levels under host Desi Lydic after Josh Johnson’s hosting debut the week prior drew the year’s largest 18–49 audience.
