Samsung is blamed for deliberately delaying the One UI 8.0 update rollout to push foldable sales. Another reason seems to be Apple’s iPhone 17 series, launching next month, as part of fading the spotlight of Apple’s big event.
Don’t be shocked if Samsung drops Galaxy S25 FE around the iPhone 17 series launch in September. The official rollout of the One UI 8.0 update may also begin matching the timeframe of Apple’s event in the following month.
Only one can be correct within two scenarios: Samsung’s new foldables running a Beta build of One UI 8, or the Stable rollout is delayed for older models to prioritize the sales of new Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7.

With the One UI 8, the Beta Program was kicked off in May 2025, the official version debuted with the Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 in July 2025, but the rollout of the stable update is still pending, and Samsung decided to start in September 2025.

Samsung is repeating what it did with the One UI 7 update. The software’s Beta Program started in December 2024, the official reveal happened with the Galaxy S25 series in February 2025, but the stable rollout started in April 2025.
Seems like delaying One UI updates for older models has become a weapon to push sales of new products.
