A Week of Conflicting Reports
The departure follows a week of public speculation and confusing reports. Initially, Fightful Select reported that Kross and Scarlett’s contracts were set to expire without a new deal being offered. A subsequent report from the Wrestling Observer stated that a last-minute offer had been made. Kross himself then appeared to refute the Observer’s report in a podcast interview, stating, “a lot of what I read is not true… I hope we we do come back.”
Real Departure or Elaborate “Work”?
The public nature of the contract dispute and the recent groundswell of fan support for Kross led many fans and even some within the industry to speculate that his departure could be an elaborate storyline, or “work.” However, the latest developments, including the internal roster removal, strongly indicate this is not the case.
