Son of ex-UFC fighter shouts out ‘Rampage’ Jackson with insane slam KO at UFC Vegas 109

One of the scariest slam knockouts you’ll ever see took place at the UFC Apex.

A fighter on the UFC Vegas 109 prelims was sent to the hospital after being slammed on his head.

This was one of several vicious finishes on the UFC Fight Night card, headlined by a middleweight bout between top contenders Roman Dolidze and Anthony Hernandez.

Two fighters were left struggling to their stool on Saturday night, including former Valentina Shevchenko foe Priscila Cachoeira after a KO loss.

The other, UFC bantamweight Toshiomi Kazama, was on the receiving end of a devastating slam knockout that UFC legend Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson would be proud of.

Elijah Smith lands Rampage Jackson style slam KO at UFC Vegas 109

Elijah Smith is the son of former UFC fighter and two-time ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ contestant Gilbert Smith.

Smith was in his son’s corner as he picked up his opponent Kazama while he had him in a triangle submission.

The 22-year-old Smith got some air time and slammed Kazama for what Daniel Cormier labeled the most devastating slam KO the former UFC champion has ever seen.

That wasn’t all though, as Smith landed two more ground and pound strikes after an accidental clash of heads. The referee stopped the contest at 4:10 of the first round.

“Shoutout Rampage Jackson,” Smith said immediately after, paying homage to Jackson, who is known for his slam KOs.

Unconscious for several minutes in the Octagon, Toshiomi Kazama was sent to the trauma department of University Medical Center, 23 minutes away from the UFC Apex, John Gooden said on the broadcast.

Kazama finally sat down on the stool while Smith was being interviewed by Daniel Cormier.

“I wanna pray for my opponent,” Smith said post-fight.

“I hope he makes it home safe,” Smith said of Kazama.

“I knew I had to slam. Unfortunately, I had to slam him on his dome piece…”
