Looking to have a great show on Saturday night in Atlantic City, New Jersey, Darius Rucker found himself in a difficult spot as he took the stage. Like countless singers before him, Rucker started to notice his voice was going out. Hoping he could power through the show, with each new song, his voice cut out more and more. Wanting to give his fans the best performance possible, he decided to end the concert early. But not without making sure he made it up to fans.
Barely making it three songs into the concert, Rucker knew he needed to end the show. He told the crowd, “Y’all I can’t sing anymore. I will play one more song. I promise you we’re going to figure this out. This never happened. I physically can’t sing…I will make this up to you.”
Darius Rucker Thankful For The Support And Love From Fans
Before heading off stage, Rucker performed his hit song “Wagon Wheel” for the audience, although he needed a little bit of help from the fans. Already stating he wanted to return to make the concert up, the country singer revealed, “I feel awful and I’m so sorry — I have never lost my voice in all my years of performing. We looked at every option to reschedule, but unfortunately, it’s just not possible this year, so we’re issuing full refunds.”

While doing the best he could with his strained voice, Rucker explained how the venue would reach out to those who purchased a ticket with information pertaining to the refunds. At the time, the singer appeared visibly upset over having to end the show. But when sharing the latest news on his Instagram Stories, he focused on the love and support he received from fans. “Thank you so much for all your kind messages wishing me well. Love y’all and see you soon!”
Although each person ended up with a refund, one fan commented on how distraught Rucker looked on stage. “He looked so upset when he left the stage.” Another fan responded, “He really did.”
As for Rucker’s upcoming performances, the singer will head to Florida for two concerts on July 19th and 20th. For the show on the 19th, he will perform in Hollywood, Florida. And on the second night, the singer will travel to Tampa.
