Kuxiu debuts tiny smart connector charger for iPad: meet the M30

Kuxiu continues to make some of the best iPad accessories in the game. They were the first to introduce “wireless” charging for the iPad by implementing the smart connector into their products, like the X33 Pro Max. It was the first magnetic iPad stand that also charged your iPad Pro with those smart connectors. They have doubled down on that and made it ultra compact. Today, they unveiled the M30 Magnetic Smart Connector Charger, and I’m so excited about it. Here is what you should know.

Closer look at the specs

You can see from the images just how small and useful this little charger is. It packs 35W of charging into a charger that is half the size of the traditional MagSafe puck.

This will NOT be compatible with iPads that don’t include the rear Smart Connector or don’t support Smart Connector charging.

My take

I’m not sure why this has not been thought of before. This is the iPad version of the MagSafe puck. It gives you all the perks of wireless and connected charging in one. This will be great for people who like to use their iPads in bed while still being able to charge their devices. But the actual selling point is that it frees up that USB-C port. In everyday situations, if you want to charge your iPad at full speed, you need to be plugged in, and it takes up that port. So if you also need to plug in a dongle or an HDMI port or anything else, you would not be able to charge your iPad and use that port. The M30 now allows for you to do that. So if you need to charge your iPad while having an SSD plugged in, the M30 allows for that use case.
