Google Calendar for Wear OS gets M3 Expressive, Keep Tiles next

Google Calendar is just beginning to roll out M3 Expressive on Android phones and tablets. On Wear OS, Google Calendar’s M3 Expressive Tiles are now widely available.

There are no changes to the actual app (compared to a big Google Maps update), with the feed of events and tasks still pretty modern in the grand scheme.

The updates are to the two Tiles. Next event now places name and duration details in a rounded container that can also show themed graphics. The date (like “Today”) appears just above, while the “Calendar” button now hugs the bottom curve.

Similarly, the only change to Next tasks is the curved “More” button. This is rolled out with version 2025.30.x of Google Calendar for Wear OS.

Old vs. new

Meanwhile, the Pixel Watch companion reveals two upcoming Tile updates. The Google Contacts “Favorites” Tile switches from circles to pills, while the “Contacts” button now says “See all.” It’s unclear whether the max goes from six to four since this redesign isn’t live yet.

Meanwhile, the individual “Contact” widget switches from a circle flanked by vertical pills to a larger avatar with the call and messaging shortcuts to the right.

Google Keep’s new “Create note” Tile goes from a list to an oval (Note) and rounded rectangle (List), with “Browse” at the bottom. The “Single note” Tile places the text in a container.
