We’ve already waxed lyrical about Terminator 2D: No Fate from retro specialists Bitmap Bureau, but our thoughts bear repeating: this game looks absolutely outstanding.
In a new trailer ahead of the title’s 31st October release date, the developer’s prepared a Rockstar-esque overview which outlines everything you can expect from the SEGA Genesis-inspired outing.
And where do we even begin? The action is spread across 15 pulsating levels, each with unique gameplay mechanics including stealth, shooting, brawling, and more.
You’ll also find a variety of modes, from the story campaign through to the more streamlined arcade mode and everything in between. Training will allow you to hone your skills, while boss rushes and time attacks will give you ample incentive to replay.
Elsewhere Sony also posted a comparison video between the game’s various difficulty settings:
As you can see, on Easy Money there’s only one flamethrower to dodge, while Hasta La Vista has three. The implication is that each difficulty setting has been hand tuned to provide a challenge.
Design director Mike Tucker explained on the PS Blog:
“Broadly speaking, the differences between the difficulties revolve around enemy placement and damage output, the number of continues and whether the time limit is turned on. The Easy Money difficulty features no time limit (except for one level) and unlimited continues. However, there are more specific differences between the difficulties, affecting enemy placement, environmental trap timings, and more.”
So, this is looking like the ultimate retro feast for fans of 16-bit consoles and the iconic arcade efforts of old.
