According to a new report, Google’s Pixel 10 Pro Fold will pack a handful of key spec changes, including a bigger battery.
On the surface level, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold sounds as though it’s going to be very similar to the existing Pixel 9 Pro Fold. The same general size, the same thickness, with the main potential upgrade being the jump to Tensor G5. Now, we’re getting a more complete picture of what Google’s upcoming foldable may bring to the table courtesy of information published by Android Headlines.
As expected, Pixel 10 Pro Fold will indeed be very similar to the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Identical camera specs across the board, the same memory allotment, and the same 8-inch internal display. But there are three key changes beyond Tensor G5.
The first is the display. The outer display is apparently growing in size from 6.3-inches up to 6.4-inches. Presumably, this means that Google is cutting down on the bezels which, admittedly, are currently a bit behind the curve on the existing model. The report brings out that the area taken up by the hinge in particular will shrink, and also that this will be a 3,000 nit display, up about 10% from the Pixel 9 Pro Fold’s outer display.
The other two changes are in regards to power.
The battery capacity of Pixel 10 Pro Fold will grow by roughly 7%, the report claims, with a 5,015 mAh battery. That’s up from 4,650 mAh on the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, and should result in a noticeable difference in battery life.
Charging would also get faster. Alongside “Qi2” support, the report brings out that wired charging jumps from 21W to 23W, while wireless charging (a headache on the Pixel 9 Pro Fold) would rise from 8W to 15W.
While not as big of an upgrade as something like Samsung’s latest foldable, Google has some meaningful tweaks in mind. The report also reiterates that, somehow, this foldable would be IP68 dust/water resistant, a rating that no other foldable thus far has achieved.
Google is expected to launch the Pixel 10 series next month, with a recent price leak showing no changes in the company’s pricing (at least in some regions).
