We’ve long been expecting new Apple TV 4K hardware to launch soon, but now that seems more likely than ever thanks to a new corroborating report.
Apple could launch new Apple TV 4K as early as September
Hartley Charlton writes at MacRumors:
Apple is still on track to release a new Apple TV model later this year, according to a reliable source speaking to MacRumors.
According to a source familiar with the company’s plans, Apple is highly likely to replace the current Apple TV 4K with a new model later this year. The current model will be discontinued.
This source reportedly provided no new details about features coming to the Apple TV 4K.
However, their corroboration of release timing is noteworthy nonetheless.
Late last year, Mark Gurman at Bloomberg was first to report that a new Apple TV 4K would launch in 2025. We’ve heard little about the new device since then, though.
There’s a good chance we see the new Apple TV 4K at the iPhone 17 event next month.
Per the latest rumors, September 9 is the scheduled event day.

The Apple TV 4K could be held until later in the fall, but Apple has a big slate of Apple TV+ originals arriving in September and beyond, which it will likely promote at the iPhone event.
As a result, it would make a lot of sense to market a new Apple TV 4K at the same time.
Expectations are that the new Apple TV 4K will come with an upgraded A-class chip, possibly enabling Apple Intelligence support, plus Apple’s first in-house Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chip.
One big wildcard feature is a built-in camera, which tvOS 26 hints at.
