Lucy was revealed as Guilty Gear’s first-ever guest character at Evo 2024. Now, a year later, her gameplay trailer has finally been shown — as well as her long-awaited release date.
Guilty Gear Strive is getting a slew of big updates and the addition of a long-awaited character in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners‘ Lucy.
While character sketches and concept art were shown at Anime Expo, fighting game fans finally got what they were waiting for at Evo just a month later when her gameplay trailer was officially released.
Lucy is an elite hacker, cyberspace surfer and netrunner who uses her monowire — a whip-like, cybernetic wire — a gun, and her handy-dandy hacking abilities to keep opponents at bay.
She thrives in neutral thanks to her high mobility and long-range attacks, making her an effective zoner. What’s better is that she can even debuff opponents using her cyberware, opening them up for some deadly offensive combos.
Lucy comes to Guilty Gear Strive on August 21
As discussed during Arc System Works’ Anime Expo panel in July, Lucy will have an extensive storyline that merges the worlds of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and Guilty Gear Strive.
A press release provided to Dexerto gives players a glimpse of what they can expect:
“[Lucy] is a netrunner based in Night City, a metropolis built upon the elusive promise of fame and fortune. While in search of information, she plunged into the Net on a ‘deep dive,’ a method of accessing networks used only by the most talented hackers. Then something bizarre happened…”

Lucy’s hacking abilities debuff her opponents – similar to how hacking works in Cyberpunk 2077, where players can cause malfunctions in their opponents’ cyberware remotely.
Lucy will release on August 21, 2025. Her release comes alongside a highly-requested update to Strive’s Ranked Match online mode, where players can challenge opponents of the same rank to achieve the highest title — “Vanquisher.”
That’s not all; Strive is getting a massive Game Version 2.00 update in 2026, which will coincide with Strive’s Season 5 pass, which is also set for a 2026 release date.

Lucy’s monowire is the perfect tool for attacking at a distance.
It’s a big time for Strive, which has now surpassed 3.5 million worldwide players across all platforms. As a thank-you, fans will receive a special illustration by Abe Daimon.
While Lucy is the first character from another IP to step into the Guilty Gear universe, she might not be the last. In our previous interview with Strive’s producer, Ken Miyauchi, he hinted that there could be even more guest characters to come.
