After multiple weeks of DJI Mini 5 Pro silence, somebody finally struck gold in a pile of rubbish. It seems an employee of a printing office took this picture of this DJI Mini 5 box misprint and shared it with the world. And this is just in: Somebody at Drone-hacks just found this highly detailed render of the DJI Mini 5 Pro and just posted it on X.
First, let’s quickly take a very close look at all Mini 5 features we can decipher from this new leaked Box and later look at the Mini 5 render image.

Seven DJI MINI 5 PRO key features confirmed
- Ultra-Light and Foldable
- 1″ Image Sensor, Up to 4K/120fps Video
- True Vertical Shooting and 225 degree Gimbal Rotation For More Flexible Camera Movements
- High-Quality 48 mm Med-Tele Mode
- Nightscape Omnidirectional Obstacle Sensing with Forward Facing LiDAR
- ActiveTrack for Running, Cycling and More
- 36 Minute Flight Time
You can safely say this misprint is confirming almost everything we ever wrote about the DJI Mini 5 pro. The 1 inch sensor, the overall better camera, the LiDAR, and it being the lightweight descendant of the DJI Mavic 4. We can conclude it will operate on the O4 platform and will be sold as the Fly More Combo with the DJI RC 2 and the DJI RC N3.

Is this a real DJI Mini 5 Pro box?
In a world full of photoshop, AI and people happily creating fake images of the DJI Mini 5 for the past year, I am happy to see a ‘happy accident’ like this in the world of graphics and printing. This is what I believe happened:
The employee managing the offset printer had to print two types of boxes. One of the DJI Mini 5 Fly More Combo RC2 and another one of the DJI Mini 5 Fly More Combo with the RC-N3. Because printing these boxes is a high rate flow multi layered offset job. You always will get a few dozens of misprints while swapping out the CMYK plates. This piece of paper got printed twice and although they cut off the actual drone from the pictures, I am 100% sure this is the legit box of the DJI Mini 5 Pro, not only because it would be very hard to create this mistake if you wanted to.

Small improvements but missing 249g information
Although the now confirmed 1 inch sensor and LiDAR are very impressive. One detail that actually was on the DJI Mini 4 Pro box is now missing. Behind the ‘Ultra-Light and Foldable” we also should have read “Less Than 249 g” … but on the newly leaked box that information is not present.
Reason for this deletion is the fact that in order to add the LiDAR and the heavier camera, they also had to upgrade the motors and the battery. So this Mini 5, might be the first Mini that won’t be able to stay below the beloved 249 g mark. But wait, rumor also has it DJI has developed two kinds of batteries for the DJI Mini 5, a bigger and a lighter version. Let’s hope that with that lighter battery version, most of the recreational flyers will still be able to fly without a lot of restrictions or needed papers.

When will the DJI Mini 5 Pro and Neo 2 launch?
After a few weeks of silence – I too need a holiday from time to time – I am sad to report August 7 for the Mini 5 was proofed wishful thinking of my trusted source, indirectly DJI had notified him that all kinds of dates had been shifted with the newly released DJI Osmo 360 and that they encountered all kinds of problems with worldwide shipping. The expected announcement for the DJI Mini 5 Pro is now set back to September 2025. Just like the DJI Neo 2, that recently appeared in FCC documents and proving that will also get a bit more juice in its battery.

DJI postoned releases, unavailability in the states.
If you live in the United States, you might have noticed you currently can’t order a DJI Mavic 4 and not even get the new DJI Osmo 360 if you wanted. I’ve even heard DJI has basically given up shipping and selling their products to the USA at all. So if you are able to get your hands on a pre-shipped model via an online store, I would advise you to get it while available.
That said, we are also still waiting on the DJI Mic 3 and DJI Osmo Nano, that were supposed to launch together with the Osmo 360 but are now at least postponed to this month. If we have more info on those products, I’ll happily share it in my articles on DroneXL. Cheers, Jasper.
