Original Finish For Top WWE SummerSlam Match Was Changed

A new report has revealed that the outcome of the high-profile celebrity tag team match at last night’s SummerSlam Night One was not the original plan. According to Fightful Select, the initial finish had Randy Orton and Jelly Roll defeating Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul.

Original SummerSlam Finish Changed

The report states that for most of the week leading up to the premium live event, the planned finish for the match was for Randy Orton and Jelly Roll to get the victory. However, the result was changed at some point before the show, with Logan Paul ultimately pinning Jelly Roll to secure the win for his team.

Jelly Roll Impressed Backstage

Despite taking the loss in his in-ring debut, the report notes that Jelly Roll made a great impression backstage in WWE. The musical artist reportedly “impressed many with his work ethic preparing for his match,” and the positive social media reaction to his performance has been strong.

The last-minute change to the finish does not appear to have soured the relationship between Jelly Roll and WWE. During the post-SummerSlam press conference last night, WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque revealed that the musical artist has “already talked to me about coming back” and doing more with the company, and that he has “payback coming” for Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul.
