After thunderstorms cut Round 2 short Friday, the Wyndham Championship resumes Saturday with Cameron Young holding the lead. Young, seeking his first career PGA Tour win, shot 7 under through 15 holes Friday in Greensboro, North Carolina to sit at 14 under for the tournament.
This is a big opportunity for Young, who has bounced back from a slow start this season (six missed cuts over the first 11 events) to the tune of three top 10s and a T4 finish at the U.S. Open. If Young can hold on for the win, he’d leap to 16th in the FedEx Cup standings and effectively secure a Tour Championship berth.
Right behind Young is reigning Wyndham Championship winner Aaron Rai, who’s in rhythm at Sedgefield once again at 13 under after shooting 6 under through 13 Friday. Last year’s win was the first of the 30-year-old’s career, and a repeat this weekend would be key; it would take him from 58th to 40th in the FedEx Cup standings.
Mac Meissner and Sungjae Im round out the top three while tied at 12 under through two rounds, while Mark Hubbard sits in fifth at 11 under.
