Samsung confirms early Galaxy S25 FE launch

Solid evidence that Samsung is looking to make lineup changes for its Galaxy devices is mounting. A recent earnings call from the company detailed an earlier launch for what might be Samsung’s new base model Galaxy S device – the Galaxy S25 FE.

During Samsung’s Q2 2025 earnings call, a few big plans were unveiled. One focused on Samsung’s plans for the future of the Galaxy S25 FE and likely upcoming Fan Edition models.

The company says it will focus on an earlier launch for the Galaxy S25 FE. It was expected that the phone would follow the same pattern as previous FE models, with a launch in October. Earlier than that would put the launch sometime in the next two months, which doesn’t leave the company much time.

For the Galaxy S25 series, we will focus on maintaining sales momentum with seasonal promotions as well as an earlier launch of the S25 FE.

When rumors that Samsung would change up the names of the Galaxy S26 models to the S26 Pro, S26 Edge, and S26 Ultra, we theorized that Samsung is attempting to position the FE models as the base model, going forward. With the “Pro” moniker tagging onto what was originally the base model Galaxy S device, Samsung seems to be trying to move the lineup away from what would be considered bland or budget.

That would then allow the FE models to step in as the new base model, while at the same time, moving it up from its current “budget” status. This could mean that Samsung is also gearing up to increase prices, though there’s no concrete evidence of this, yet.

With the move to an earlier launch, Samsung might be positioning itself to launch the Galaxy S26 FE even earlier next year to lump it in with the upcoming trio.

The earnings report also indicated that Samsung plans on offering seasonal sales for the Galaxy S25 series. The Galaxy S25, S25 Plus, and S25 Ultra are great devices, so any bit off is welcome. What those sales entail is unknown, though we’ve seen boosted trade-ins and deep discounts for previous models during these big sale months. It’s a good time to trade in or directly buy.

Right now, trade-ins for the Galaxy S25 Ultra are decent, with a traded S24 Ultra taking $580 off. In the future, that might get better, but it’s unknown right now.
