The Vancouver Whitecaps are finalizing a deal to sign German legend Thomas Müller, sources tell GIVEMESPORT.
Vancouver have agreed in principle to acquire the ” discovery rights” for Müller from FC Cincinnati, which was the last hurdle before the Whitecaps sign the player, sources say.
Transfermarkt first reported an agreement was close on rights. Now, the Whitecaps will go through the final steps before officially signing Müller.
Cincinnati will receive up to around $400,000 GAM, GIVEMESPORT can exclusively reveal. Cincy held Müller’s rights and made an offer to sign him earlier this summer, but couldn’t use a DP spot. So the best offer for Müller was just under $2 million, something the player didn’t consider. Müller won’t be a DP initially this season for Vancouver, but will be in 2026.
GIVEMESPORT revealed on Monday that Vancouver were nearing a total agreement on personal terms with Müller.
Müller, 35, played his final match for Bayern Munich this summer following the FIFA Club World Cup after spending his entire career at the club. He had eight goals and eight assists in 1,921 minutes with the team this season.
In his career, Müller has 250 goals and 276 assists in 756 appearances for Bayern Munich.
The star forward has had an impeccable run at the club, winning 13 Bundesliga titles and two Champions League titles in a trophy-laden career.
