In the bottom of the third inning, the Atlanta Braves and the St. Louis Cardinals ended up getting caught in a situation that they’re used to being in together. For the second season in a row, a game involving the Braves and the Cardinals has been affected by weather. Today’s game is currently in a rain delay.

Stay tuned for more updates as they come in, as we’ll let you know if/when play gets resumed.
UPDATE [3:58 p.m. ET]: This is going to be a relatively quick break. The tarp is coming off of the field and the Cardinals have announced that play will resume at 4:05 p.m. ET.
UPDATE [4:05 p.m. ET]: The tarp’s off the field, the players are on the field and now it’s time for baseball to get back going. Come join us in the game thread!
UPDATE [4:11 p.m. ET]: You can’t make this up — well, actually you can since this is a rare example of weather NOT permitting when it’s usually a given by this point in any given rain delay. Just a few moments before the players were set to resume play, the skies opened back up and now the tarp’s going back on the field. Absolutely wild. Guess we’re hanging out a bit longer then!
Cardinals/Braves were gearing up to resume playing in a few minutes. Steven Matz is warming up, pretty safe assumption that Sonny Gray will not continue in this fame.
And as I was about to send this tweet, the grounds crew sprinted to the field and are about to pull the tarp. https://t.co/0dyGmleIiv

[UPDATE 4:23 p.m. ET]: Alright, NOW we are playing baseball again. Please join us in the game thread. Thank you. Phew!
[UPDATE 4:55 p.m. ET]: Rain has descended upon Busch Stadium once again, although things have changed since the first rain delay. It’s now the top of the fifth and the Braves have just gone up following a go-ahead RBI from Matt Olson. If they can get through five innings, this game will become official so that’s something to keep in mind going forward as they try their best to get this game in.
With heavy rain starting to fall again, #Braves slugger Matt Olson drills a ball into the left-center gap off LHP Steven Matz to plate two runs. Atlanta takes a 3-1 lead with two outs in the top of the fifth. The game is being stopped and the tarp is going back on the infield. pic.twitter.com/CGRDa4V1o1
