New Title Revealed for Fourth ‘Meet the Parents’ Film

The upcoming fourth installment in the Meet the Parents comedy franchise, which is scheduled to hit theaters next Thanksgiving, is titled Focker-in-Law. Like the two prior films in the series, Meet the Fockers and Little Fockers, the forthcoming Universal Pictures production makes a play on the name of Ben Stiller’s character, Gaylord “Greg” Focker. Stiller explained one reason for continuing the lucrative franchise 16 years after its last installment: His character now finds himself in a similar situation as his on-screen father-in-law (Robert De Niro) was in 2000. “What spurred the idea is that I’m the age that Bob was when we did the first movie,” the actor said at last month’s Tribeca Festival, which De Niro co-founded in 2002. “It felt like a mirror to the first film, where one of my kids is thinking about introducing his person to the family.” Singer-actress Ariana Grande has reportedly been cast to play the less-than-charming potential daughter-in-law.
