MANHATTAN, New York (WABC) — An active investigation is underway after an NYPD officer and civilian were shot in Midtown Manhattan on Monday by a suspect who fled into an office building, according to police sources.
The shooting happened outside 345 Park Ave., which is the building that contains Blackstone and the NFL headquarters. The building is currently under a lockdown.
Police sources say the officer and civilian were shot on the street at the location.
The conditions of the victims were not immediately known.
Officials are asking people to avoid areas near East 52nd Street between Park Avenue and Lexington Avenue due to police activity.
No further details have been provided.
The investigation is ongoing.
