Former Michigan basketball player Gregg Glenn III died over the weekend at age 22, Tulane University announced Monday.
The 6-foot-7 power forward from Pompano Beach, Florida was entering his senior year with the Green Waves after starting all 34 games last season. The former four-star recruit spent his freshman season with the Wolverines in 2022-23 before transferring.
According to Tulane vice president of student affairs Sarah Cunningham, Glenn died in a “tragic accident.”
“Gregg was an outstanding athlete on our men’s basketball team and an individual who brought joy and light to those around him,” Cunningham wrote in a statement. “His commitment to excellence inspired many of us.
“Known for his infectious personality, positive energy, and kindness, he brightened every room he entered. Well known in the South Florida area for his basketball prowess, he will be greatly missed by many.”
Glenn transferred to Tulane after appearing in four games for Michigan, scoring six points and recording six rebounds. He averaged 3.6 points off the bench for the Green Waves in 2023-24 before breaking out last season as a full-time starter. In 34 games, he shot 49.8% from the floor and averaged 10.6 points and 5.3 rebounds.
