Emmet County deputies searched for Walmart stabbing suspect day before attack

EMMET COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) — The Emmet County sheriff’s Office said their deputies were looking for Walmart stabbing suspect Bradford Gille on Friday, less than 24 hours before the attack that sent 11 to the hospital.

The sheriff’s office said it received a court order from the State of Michigan 7th Probate Court of Emmet County. The court order instructed Gille be taken into custody.

“The order identified Gille as homeless with no known physical address in Emmet County,” the sheriff’s office said.

Deputies spent Friday evening patrolling and actively searching for Gille, the sheriff’s office said.

The Grand Traverse County Sheriff’s Office is requesting Bradford Gille, 42, of Afton, Michigan, be charged with terrorism and 11 counts of assault with intent to murder after a stabbing at the Traverse City Walmart Saturday.

Sheriff Mike Shea at a Sunday press conference said Gille has a history of assaultive incidents and controlled substance violations. Shea described the weapon as a 3.5-inch folding knife.
