GOOD MORNING, I’M VALERIE ZHANG. WE ARE FOLLOWING BREAKING NEWS THIS MORNING – ARKANSAS STATE POLICE SAY THEY ARE INVESTIGATING A DOUBLE HOMICIDE AT “DEVIL’S DEN STATE PARK” IN WEST FORK. POLICE SAY AROUND TWO-FORTY SATURDAY AFTERNOON, A FORTY-THREE-YEAR- OLD MAN AND A FORTY- ONE-YEAR-OLD WOMAN WERE FOUND DEAD ON A WALKING TRAIL. ARKANSAS STATE POLICE SAY THE SUSPECT IS A WHITE MAN LAST SEEN WEARING DARK SHORTS, DARK TANK TOP, AND WEIGHT- LIFTING GLOVES. HE WAS DRIVING A BLACK FOUR-DOOR SEDAN – POSSIBLY A MAZDA – WITH THE LICENSE PLATE COVERED IN TAPE. ASP SAYS THE CAR WAS SEEN HEADING TOWARD A PARK EXIT, POSSIBLY ONTO STATE HIGHWAY ONE-SEVENTY OR TWO-TWENTY. ASP’S CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION DIVISION IS HANDLING THE CASE AS A SUSPECTED HOMICIDE. Arkansas State Police are investigating a double homicide at Devil’s Den State Park in West Fork. ASP said the victims, a 43-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman, were found dead on a walking trail on Saturday afternoon. Police said the suspect is a white man, last seen wearing dark shorts, a dark tan top, and weight-lifting gloves. Police added he was seen driving toward a park exit in a black, four-door sedan. The license plate may be covered with electrical or duct tape. Arkansas Gov. Sarah Sanders released a statement on Saturday evening. “We are heartbroken by today’s horrific news from Devil’s Den State Park and are in close contact with State Police and the Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism as they work to apprehend the suspect,” Gov. Sanders said. “We are praying for the family and friends of the victims, and know that law enforcement will not rest until the perpetrator is brought to justice.”
