UNM Police: Suspect at-large after deadly shooting at student housing complex

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico campus in Albuquerque is in a shelter-in-place after one person died in a shooting that left another wounded Friday at a student housing complex, according to the UNM Police Department.

The suspect is at-large and may still be on campus, according to UNMPD. UNM closed the central campus, alerting people to shelter in place and avoid campus. If you need to get to the Health Sciences Center, “all clinical components remain open.”

UNMPD responded early Friday morning to a report of gunshots at Casas del Rio. Officers found two people shot. One person died while the other sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Law enforcement agencies are on scene and investigating.
