Justin Fields carted off during Jets training camp with dislocated toe

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — New York Jets quarterback Justin Fields left the training camp field on a cart Thursday and the team later said he had dislocated a toe on his right foot and was day-to-day.

“Fields avoided serious injury and significant missed time,” the team said on X.

Fields dropped to the ground following an incomplete pass during 11-on-11 drills. He initially walked off the field to the medical tent with a heavy limp before being driven inside to the locker room.

A team doctor spoke to general manager Darren Mougey as Fields was being taken inside. Head coach Aaron Glenn later said Fields had injured a toe on his right foot, though he did not know the severity at the time.

Veteran Tyrod Taylor is the Jets’ backup quarterback. New York also has a couple others, including Adrian Martinez and undrafted rookie Brady Cook, without any NFL game experience.
