Plan ahead folks because the United States Postal Service is shutting down for a day, and the mail won’t run on Nov. 11.
That, of course, is Veterans Day.
The Postal Service issued a release this week alerting folks to the fact that service would not be available on that day. Regular mail delivery and retail services are slated to resume on Wednesday, Nov. 12.
“On this important day we honor the military veterans who have served our nation,” Postmaster General and CEO David Steiner said. “The Postal Service is proud to be one of the largest civilian employers of America’s veterans. Their dedication, discipline and commitment to service enrich our organization and strengthen our connection to the communities we serve.”
While the post offices will be closed, the USPS noted that customers can still access postal products and services through its more than 2,600 self-service kiosks. Those kiosks offer postage printing for Priority Mail, Priority Mail Express and international shipping, stamps for purchase, the ability to weight and mail packages, and package tracking information.
The USPS said many of its self-service kiosks are available to customers 24/7, even when the Post Office is closed on holidays.
