MIAMI, Florida — Details are emerging about the mysterious death of Sam Rivers, founding bassist of Limp Bizkit, whose body was reportedly discovered in the bathroom of his Florida home in a pool of blood, TMZ reported. The circumstances of how he died are still unclear.
According to documents obtained by TMZ, a companion named Keely called 911 after finding Rivers face down and bleeding. Deputies said she began CPR as first responders raced to the scene.
In public statements, Limp Bizkit announced the bassist’s passing at age 48, calling him their “heartbeat” and praising his impact on their sound and spirit.
Frontman Fred Durst later posted an emotional video recalling how he and Rivers first met and expressing his grief.
Rivers had previously stepped away from the band in 2015 after battling liver disease linked to heavy drinking. He received a liver transplant in 2018 and returned to performing with the group. His death comes just months after his final live appearance at the Leeds Festival in August.
Investigators are continuing to review forensic evidence and autopsy results.
