Chelsea O’Donnell, the daughter of comedian Rosie O’Donnell, has been sentenced by a judge to prison time, US Weekly first reported on Wednesday.
A Wisconsin court filed a notice of case status change last week after the 28-year-old was accused of violating the terms of her probation, according to court documents obtained by Newsweek. In a motion to terminate Chelsea’s participation in the Marinette County Treatment Drug Court Program filed last month, a court official said Rosie’s daughter was in violation due to sexual assault allegations.
The document states that Chelsea was placed on a hold through the Department of Corrections.
Why It Matters
Chelsea was sentenced earlier this year to six years of probation after several arrests for drug-related charges.
Rosie told US Weekly in a statement: “I have compassion for those struggling with addiction—Chelsea was born into addiction and it has been a painful journey for her and her children.”

What To Know
During sentencing, the court ordered Chelsea to have “strict compliance with terms and conditions of the Marinette County Treatment Drug Court Program,” according to court records. She was also ordered to maintain “absolute sobriety.”
In April, Chelsea was ordered to spend seven days in jail following a treatment court hearing. In June, the court held a hearing regarding a “medication violation.”
At another hearing later that month, the court heard about Chelsea’s “positive progress.” In July, the court “congratulates” Chelsea.
A hearing in August addressed “progress but concerns.” Chelsea was ordered to complete 36 hours of community service for being suspended from work “and will be on lockdown.”
Chelsea was ordered to spend two weeks in jail in September and to write an essay on why she should not be terminated from the program.
Rosie previously addressed her daughter’s arrests in an Instagram post in 2024, writing, “We all hope she is able to get the help she needs to turn her life around.”
What People Are Saying
Rosie O’Donnell, in a statement to US Weekly: “We continue to love and support her through these horrible times. Prayers welcomed.”
Marinette County Treatment Drug Court Coordinator Sara Plansky-Pecor, in a motion filed September 24: “The facts surrounding this request have been staffed with the Marinette County Treatment Drug Court Team and have been deemed sufficient grounds to warrant termination from the Marinette County Treatment Drug Court Program.”
