Packers sign OL Zach Tom to contract extension

The Green Bay Packers have signed OL Zach Tom to a contract extension. General Manager Brian Gutekunst announced the transaction Tuesday.

Tom, who was selected by the Packers in the fourth round (No. 140 overall) of the 2022 NFL Draft, has appeared in 43 games with 39 starts in his first three NFL seasons, opening games at three different spots on the offensive line (34 at RT, four at LT, one at LG). Last season, he earned first-team All-Pro honors from Pro Football Focus after helping the PackĀers rank No. 2 in sacks allowed (22) and No. 5 in total offense (370.8 ypg), rushing offense (146.8 ypg) and yards per play (6.14), Green Bay’s first time finishing in the top five in all of those categories since 2003.

Tom was one of only two offensive linemen in the NFL (Texans T Tytus Howard) to start 35-plus games in 2022-24 and not be penalized for holding (per TruMedia). He has been part of a line that has allowed 59 total sacks in the 39 games he has started, including 21 contests with one sack/zero sacks. In two seasons as a full-time starter (2023-24), he has helped Green Bay rank No. 2 in the NFL over that span in sacks allowed (52) and sack percentage (4.7).
