Quillan Salkilld just put himself in the running for Knockout of the Year after he demolished Nasrat Haqparast with a head kick at UFC 321.
It was a terrifying finish after Salkilld loaded up and launched his head kick that bounce directly off the side of Haqparast’s head. Haqparast was unconscious before he ultimately hit the floor face first where he remained motionless for several minutes.
Thankfully, Haqparast was eventually revived and got back to his feet but the entire arena in Abu Dhabi remained quieted after the terrifying knockout.
The official stoppage came at 2:30 in the opening round with Salkilld getting the knockout victory.
“I’m just happy to be here. 10 days’ notice … for it to end like that, I think I deserve a bonus 100 percent,” Salkilld said after his win. “I just f*cking sent it and thank god it landed.
“A ranked opponent next in the top 15 would be great. My eyes are on the top 15 in the rankings.”
Taking the fight on short notice didn’t stop Salkilld from staying aggressive from the jump in his fight with Haqparast while showing off his size and reach advantage. The finish came after Salkilld loaded up the leg and just saw the perfect opening to unleash the kick that ended Haqparast’s night in violent fashion.
Replays showed the head kick landing clean as Haqparast’s entire body twisted and turned before falling to the canvas.
Now 10-1 as a pro with an undefeated three-fight win streak in the UFC, Salkilld appears to be a prospect worth watching, especially after that vicious knockout to cap off the UFC 321 prelims on Saturday.
