Those of you subscribed to PS Plus Extra tier have something new to play today: Abiotic Factor is launching directly into Sony’s service, and is available to download and play right now.
Described as a narrative-driven survival co-op experience, you’ll join forces with up to five other players as you plumb the depths of an underground research facility, which finds itself caught “between paranormal containment failure, a military crusade, and chaos from a dozen realms”.
Here’s the official blurb:
“Abiotic Factor brings a 90’s sci-fi twist and rich character progression to the multiplayer open world survival crafting genre. Up to 6 players can choose their PHDs, build their scientist, gear up, and explore a massive subterranean complex, filled with supernatural artifacts, transdimensional foes, and science experiments gone awry.”
The full game features crossplay so it shouldn’t have too much of an issue building a healthy online community, considering it’s also included with Xbox Game Pass as well.
We really do like the character progression system, as you can pick your PHD from a variety of options, and hone your play style appropriately. That’s a neat gimmick.
The 90s almost Nintendo 64 art style also appeals to us – although we suspect that’s going to end up an acquired taste.
