Bears predictions: Week 7 vs. Saints

The Sun-Times’ experts offer their picks for the Bears’ game Sunday against the Saints (noon, Fox 32):

Patrick Finley

Bears, 24-21 (OT): The Bears haven’t beaten the Saints since 2008, when Robbie Gould hit a 28-yard field goal at the gun to force overtime and then a 35-yarder to win. Since then, the Saints have won seven in a row against the Bears, with six coming by more than a field goal. This year: 3-2

Jason Lieser

Bears, 30-20: A victory over the Saints would give the Bears their first four-game winning streak since closing the 2018 season on one. The Saints are at the onset of what looks like a prolonged rebuild, so this shouldn’t be a problem for Ben Johnson and Caleb Williams. This year: 2-3

Mark Potash

Bears, 20-13: The still-formative Bears are susceptible to a letdown after a thrilling road victory on “Monday Night Football” — plus the possibility of inclement weather leveling the playing field. But even their “B” game should be good enough here. This year: 4-1

Scoop Jackson

Bears, 38-22: The trend begins. The reversal of fortunes. Yes, they’ve have won three games in a row, but this is Game 1 of a four-game stretch that will change the direction of all things Bears … for now. This year: 2-3

Steve Greenberg

Bears, 27-16: Well, folks, we’ve entered some unfamiliar territory here — sizing up a terrible Bears opponent and assuming our local hotshots, winners of three in a row, can’t lose. Seriously, what could go wrong? (Cue the season-wrecking upset!) This year: 4-1

Allen spent 15 seasons with the Saints in various roles and won Super Bowl XLIV with them as an assistant to Sean Payton.

Stevenson played well in his return to Northwest Stadium on Monday, a good step in his mission to prove himself reliable.

Fifteen minutes after the Bears had stolen their second straight road win, tight end Cole Kmet stood at his locker, shook his head and smiled. He knew this feeling, but usually from the other side.
