Bears’ DJ Moore Got ‘Good News’ After Being Hospitalized with Groin Injury, HC Says

Chicago Bears wide receiver DJ Moore received a positive update after being hospitalized following the team’s 25-24 victory over the Washington Commanders on Monday night.

Head coach Ben Johnson told ESPN Chicago (9:30 in video) on Tuesday that Moore was dealing with a groin injury, but “we got some good news on that regard.” He noted the receiver is expected to be released later in the day.

“I think he’ll be day-to-day going forward,” Johnson added.

The Bears announced (h/t ESPN’s Courtney Cronin) after the game that Moore was taken to a local hospital in the Washington D.C. area for a “precautionary medical evaluation.”

Moore started and played the entire game against the Commanders. He was on the field for 93.8 percent of Chicago’s offensive snaps, his highest single-game total since Week 18 last season.

The 28-year-old finished with 42 yards on three receptions. He also had two rushing attempts for 10 yards. Each of his three catches came on Chicago’s opening drive.

Moore did briefly go into the medical tent on the sideline after landing hard on his left hip out of bounds, but he returned to the game without any apparent limitations.

Since starting the season 0-2, the Bears have won three consecutive games. They defeated Washington on Jake Moody’s 38-yard field goal as time expired after a Commanders turnover with 3:10 left to play.

Moore has started each of the Bears’ first five games. He is off to a slow start with 215 yards and one touchdown on 19 receptions, but he still ranks second on the team in catches and receiving yards.

The Bears will have a short week going into Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints at Soldier Field.
