Taylor Swift is back cheering for the Kansas City Chiefs, seen at her first NFL game of the season after announcing her engagement to the team’s veteran tight end Travis Kelce in August.
Swift was photographed enjoying the Oct. 12 home game from a private suite. The Chiefs are facing the Detroit Lions.
The game comes two years after Swift and Kelce went public with their relationship in October 2023. Swift announced their engagement in August in a social media post, writing “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”
The proposal happened in the minutes after Swift recorded an appearance on the New Heights podcast, which Kelce hosts with his brother and now-retired NFL star Jason Kelce. The fandom-juiced episode drew a massive audience, with 13 million YouTube views in just the first 24 hours.
On her episode, Swift teased details of her then-upcoming album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” saying that the new music was inspired by her globe-trotting experience on her record-breaking Eras Tour: “This album is about what was going on behind the scenes of my inner life during this tour, which was so exuberant and electric and vibrant. It just comes from the most infectiously joyful, wild, dramatic place I was in in my life, and so that effervescence has come through on this record. And like you said, bangers.”
Swift’s popularity as the NFL’s most publicized fan has also led league commissioner Roger Goodell to openly invite the singer-songwriter to play the Super Bowl halftime show: “We would always love to have Taylor play. She is a special, special talent and obviously, she would be welcome at any time.”
