ESPN’s reaction to WWE Crown Jewel 2025 has been revealed, with grades for the show being published on the network’s official website.
WWE Crown Jewel 2025 marked the company’s final major international show of the year, and their second Premium Live Event to air exclusively on ESPN’s new direct-to-consumer streaming app, following its debut on the service last month with WWE Wrestlepalooza.
One of the biggest talking points after Wrestlepalooza was ESPN’s own reaction to the show, with combat sports reporter Andreas Hale giving the show an overall grade of “C”, something that reportedly left some in WWE “stunned”.
Now that the dust has settled on Crown Jewel, Hale has once again dropped his official grades for the show, and his assessment certainly makes for much more positive reading for WWE, despite not every match being given a positive score.
In what will come as little surprise to many who watched the show, John Cena vs. AJ Styles was singled out as the highlight of Crown Jewel, with Hale giving the match an “A”, the highest individual grade of the night, writing:
“This was as good as it gets and a fitting way to end one of the best rivalries in WWE.”
The lowest individual score went to the Women’s WWE Crown Jewel Championship match between Stephanie Vaquer and Tiffany Stratton, which received a “C-“, with Hale lamenting WWE only giving the match just over 10 minutes.
The Men’s WWE Crown Jewel Championship Match between Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins faired better, receiving a “B” grade, which is also the score Hale gave to the tag team match between home country favorite Rhea Ripley & IYO SKY vs. The Kabuki Warriors. Lastly, the Australian Street Fight Match between Roman Reigns and Bronson Reed received a “C” grade.
Overall WWE Crown Jewel 2025 was given a “B” grade, with Hale writing:
“A show that stumbled out of the gate with a relatively tame street fight and a far too brief fight between women’s champions was rescued by an absolutely stellar match between Cena and Styles that put an excellent bookend to their rivalry.
“Rollins finally getting his comeuppance against Rhodes — by any means necessary — and the women’s tag match were both strong and anchored a memorable bounce-back for WWE after a middling Wrestlepalooza.”
