We’ve already seen the likes of Fortnite and Roblox embrace community created content, but now it’s the turn of Genshin Impact to take strides towards becoming the ultimate “forever” game.
While the new update, out on 22nd October, brings substantial new quests to the ongoing Nod-Krai storyline – and a new character in the form of Nefer – it’s the new mode Miliastra Wonderland that’s the biggest headline.
So, what exactly is it? Well, it’s being pitched as a magical realm separate from the main campaign where you’ll be able to engage with minigames, challenges, simulations, and more created by the community.
HoYoverse is offering creators royalties to create great content, so there’s actually incentive to learn its editor tools and get to grips with how it all works. You can add achievements, ranking systems, leaderboards and more to anything you do design.
Meanwhile, the whole mode will be presented through a new “blank canvas” style character named a Manekin, which you’ll be able to use both in the Miliastra Wonderland and Teyvat.
You’ll be able to completely customise the look of your Manekin through paid and unpaid methods, with clothing sets and accessories being the primary monetisation method for this mode. It looks extremely in-depth.

It’s going to be interesting to see how this mode evolves, because there’s already so much to Genshin Impact that it’s hard to fathom how this entire new pillar will fit in. But we must admit, we are looking forward to seeing just how fleshed out and compelling the first batch of community creations are.
