We all know that family matters, but so do court appearances.
Darius McCrary, an actor best known for his role as Eddie Winslow in the 90s American sitcom “Family Matters,” was reportedly arrested in southern California near the United States-Mexico border this past Sunday.
The arrest in San Diego was due to a missed court appearance in Michigan related to unpaid child support, according to TV Insider.
It was classified as a fugitive arrest because the actor was wanted in another state, the entertainment website reported. The actor is now facing a felony charge.
McCrary’s representative, Ann Barlow, told TV Insider in a statement that he “did not know at the time that he had a warrant, or he would’ve taken care of it.”
Barlow also told TV Insider that McCrary was on his way to Tijuana, Mexico, to speak with the homeless, partnering with a real estate developer who was building homes for them.
Due to an illness, she added, the actor hadn’t been checking his mail and had already missed the court date by the time he saw the notice.
Aside from his starring role in “Family Matters,” McCrary has been featured in various films such as “Big Shots,” “Next Day Air” and “Christmas in Carolina.”
McCrary is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, Oct. 15.
