‘Superman’ on Track to Become Biggest Superhero Movie of 2025

All eyes are still on the box office results for James Gunn’s Superman reboot, with the financial earnings of the first big-screen DCU outing expected to decide the future of the fledgling franchise. While debate rages on regarding whether Superman has been the success the studio hoped for, it’s slowly becoming harder and harder for the naysayers (largely Snyder fans) to keep up the facade that Gunn’s take on the Man of Steel has not done exactly what it needed to do.

The latest box office reports reveal that Superman is more than keeping up with its comic book counterparts over at Marvel, having now grossed $406.8 globally in a huge win for the superhero outing. After dropping a less-than-expected 54% over the weekend, matching that of the MCU’s hugely successful Deadpool & Wolverine, Superman picked up another $57.2 million, totalling a 10-day domestic tally of $235 million, according to THR.

The ‘Superman’ experts have spoken and their point about Snyder’s version is actually pretty valid.

While the domestic success is now undeniable, Superman has struggled somewhat overseas. As the character sadly often does. The reboot grossed an extra $45.2 million for an international tally of $171.8 million, all of which brings the current total $406.8 worldwide, which means DC and Warner Bros. have now passed Disney “to rank No. 1 in domestic marketshare for the year to date.”

On top of that, not only has Superman now beaten Marvel’s Thunderbolts* and its total gross of $383 million globally, but it is also all set to surpass Captain America: Brave New World’s worldwide total of $415 million and thus become the highest-grossing superhero movie of 2025 so far.
